New gas power plant would damage Dee Estuary

Uniper, the developer of the Dee gas plant, admitted that the project would damage the Dee Estuary and cause habitat loss for migratory birds. The estuary has the highest level of environmental protection under both UK and international law, but if the project is deemed necessary, those protections could be overridden. New gas infrastructure is rarely necessary, given existing capacity and the availability of renewable and clean flexibility solutions.
